More about working with me

I believe virtual therapy with me may offer an excellent path forward toward healing and transformation. Always collaborative and strength-based, I work to provide a supportive, non-judgmental and safe space for you to uncover your deeper truths, process your fears and desires, and attain the life you imagine. My way of engaging is genuine, transparent, personalized, and always oriented toward enhancing insight and fostering powerful experiences of healing and transformation. This process is deeply transformative; part of your growth may stem from the working relationship between the two of us, to be deeply seen by another human being (that is, me) in ways that may sometimes challenge your assumptions about yourself. We will bring everything we have to the task, the work we do together being a mutual process.

I promise to guide you on your journey at a pace you are comfortable with. I will do my best to help you avoid certain pitfalls so that you can emerge from this process whole, more self-aware, and resilient. I will offer you support, understanding and care the whole time as we identify factors contributing to your initial concerns, uncover blindspots, collaborate in developing more constructive ways of coping, and create a more conscious and fulfilling life.

Effective therapy aims to gently and compassionately help you constructively confront difficult topics and themes that have emerged in your life. Understandably, we naturally prefer to avoid the things that bring up discomfort. However, until hurts are dealt with, they won’t heal. “What you resist, persists” said Carl Jung. Therefore, optimal healing hinges on your willingness and motivation to address the tough stuff.
In the first few sessions I structure the session around asking questions to gain a better understanding of your circumstances and your background. However, I generally count on you to generate the material we talk about, and then we work through the content together. I may listen thoughtfully, or I may assert a different agenda depending on what's at stake.

The first session is called a diagnostic interview, in which the details of your past and current life circumstances are assessed and discussed in depth. Using both qualitative and quantitative information gathered from the pre-intake assessment and diagnostic interview we will uncover the severity of your concerns so that we can collaboratively construct S.M.A.R.T. goals to guide your treatment (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Time Bound).
Utilizing these protocols at the start of treatment helps to ensure positive outcomes. Overall, my assessment process is very thorough, includes standardized measures as well as a written summary, which I can provide to you upon request. You may also complete a personality assessment called the NERIS Type Explorer to quickly pinpoint strengths and underlying needs, both of which can be leveraged in treatment to support the achievement of your goals.
